Where has Linda Been?

I just logged into my Blog for the first time in a year! No particular reason I stopped posting. Just off my radar, I guess. Been a busy and amazing 2016. Our publishing company has flourished and we sold our very first crop of grapes from our commercial red wine grape vineyard, that was totally cool! My wellness biz has been on the back burner, but will be front and center in 2017.

Our son, Danner continues to command his world. We are very proud of the man he has become. Having him as our country neighbor has its perks: we co-own lots of light and heavy equipment and he fixes everything we break, plows our long drive in the winter, enthusiastically discusses politics, world news and nonsense with his mom (and dad!), while stealing our coffee and beer. The love of his life is a wonderful gal and makes him very happy.

In 2016, I lost my beloved horse, Shooter to chronic wasting disease. I am still, and will be forever, brokenhearted. First time in almost 40 years, I do not have a horse to adore and have adventures with. Part of my being is missing, but for now we added a new donkey... everyone should have at least two donks! Our pup, Tucker still rules the roost and every witch requires at least two black cats, as do I. So our house and hearts are full going into the wane of 2016.

The wood is stacked, the flue cleaned, the windows washed, the rugs washed and back down, thermo heaters in the barn water trough and bird bath, tons and tons of leaves raked and burned, winter sweaters ready. Today, was the first hard freeze here. Very late, but not complaining. Here's Grandma Linnea's garden. Turned into Morticia Adams' garden this morn! LOL

Soooo, will be back to blogging and look forward to your contributions and comments. Enjoy the quiet moments and sing out loud (remembering and listening to Leonard Cohen today)!
hugs, linda

Is Your MLM Company Hurting Anyone?

-#2 of a series of 20 posts-
Most people never think about this question... but the sad truth is MANY people are getting hurt.
More lives have been destroyed, more marriages have resulted in divorce, more people have gone into debt due to the MLM business model compared to any other business model on the planet. That's a very bold statement, but very true.

I have heard story after story of people who believed in the industry promise of lifelong residual income, but it wasn't delivered due to the faults in the MLM business model. Having a lot of risk is one of the main reasons why network marketers fail.

As I've spoke about in many other posts, the “12 Success Factors” is deemed by top industry leaders to be the checklist that you need in a company to create lifelong residual income. This checklist has literally changed many people’s lives in this industry who have been struggling.

Having NO RISK is one of the "12 Success Factors".  This checklist was designed around the masses, the 80%'ers.  It was created with them in mind. Most of the companies out there don't keep the 80's in mind. Here's your copy of this checklist every serious home business owner needs to have:    The 12 Success Factors

If you're in a company now, I'd recommend printing out a copy of the "12 Success Factors" and line up your company next to this list to see if it aligns will ALL of them. If the company is missing ANY of these factors, you really have to ask yourself if you're willing to invest your time, energy and reputation behind it.

If you’re interested in learning how you can directly partner with me in a business model where there is no risk... that keeps the 80%'ers in mind, give me a call at 608.314.4004.

Always yours,

The Dangers of Dryer Sheets

I read a startling and shocking article that posed the question as to whether fabric softeners laced with chemicals contribute to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). According to Dr. Ron Harper, of the UCLA Medical School Brain Research Institute, he believes that an anaphylactic reaction (hypersensitivity to a foreign substance) is responsible for some SIDS cases. He further states that fabric softeners with their array of chemical components could not be ruled out as possible causative agents.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and industry-generated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), there is a mind-boggling list of dangerous petrochemicals in these products, many of them used in untested combinations, there are many chemicals found in fabric softeners and dryer sheets such as Alpha-Terpineol, Benzyl Acetate, Benzyl Alcohol, Camphor, Chloroform, Ethyl Acetate and others. These chemicals have been found to cause various health problems including central nervous system disorders, irritation to mucous membranes, pancreatic cancer, irritation to upper respiratory tract, headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and the list goes on and on.
With this information, it makes sense to begin using more natural and safe fabric softener for the health of your family. I have listed a few healthy tips for you to consider as you keep your home a "healthy home."
What To Look For
  • AVOID fabric softeners that contain benzyl acetate, formaldehyde, camphor, chloroform, ethyl acetate, pentane, linalool and limonene.
  • Fabric softeners made with natural ingredients not chemicals.
Healthy Tips
  • Add baking soda to your rinse cycle.
  • Vinegar is a natural fabric softener - add ½ cup to your wash cycle.
  • Wash and dry cottons and synthetic fabrics separately.
  • Synthetic fabrics contribute to static cling so consider not using your dryer for nylon, rayon and other synthetic fabrics.

Hi All my lovely Blog Fans!

Pat has been a gift to my life and I knew you would all love to read her amazement and passion for Melaleuca shopping & products!

You will benefit from shopping Melaleuca. Let me help you learn all the reasons why...and also, maybe put some $$$ in your pocket, month after month, after month! Doesn't Shopping Free Every Month Sound Awesome? Hugs, linda - 608.295.5217

Hi Linda -
Got my order yesterday!  So happy!  Bought two for one Timeless Serum (saved $22) - such a deal!  Love, love, love that stuff.  Bought original scent Antibacterial Hand Wash...  do you like the citrus scent?  This is a little medicinal...  like Solumel for the fingers...  I will use it however...  in the kitchen...  I don't like mint...

Got a new original scented Body Satin.  I adore that stuff.  Have three scents in the shower right now.  Using a different one every day!  Love it!  Do you like Plumeria?  I may try it next time... Going to try the ultra moisturizing Sei Bella Shampoo today.  Also, bought a Platinum Bar for my shower on Mari's recommendation.  My original Gold Bar is still in use in the shower, as I am using fancy stuff instead!

I love No Work.  It smells so great and I do it right away before I leave the shower because I won't get asphyxiated by chlorine bleach.  Have a bottle of Tub and Tile under my kitchen sink and use it all the time on hard to clean pots.  Also, use Sol-U-Guard Botanical all the time now on my cutting boards and knives and counter.  Much greater peace of mind about having things sanitary after working with meat.  And I'm not afraid to use it in the kitchen around food areas.

Refilled my three Renew hand washes - my hands are in the best shape of my life...Cannot believe how cool the Loyalty dollars are...  I get to try a whole bunch of stuff for free! Happy, happy, happy  - all stocked up    love, Pat

Finally, U.S. Doctors And Researchers Agree With Melaleuca Scientists! … Our Comptetitor’s vitamin supplements are essentially worthless!

scientific-research

In a recent editorial published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, a group of physicians who reviewed three studies published by other researchers concluded that the types of vitamin and mineral supplements sold by Melaleuca’s competitors are of no benefit to your health whatsoever. Worse than that, they may do more harm than good!

While Melaleuca was not specifically named in the editorial, these doctors’ conclusions are exactly what Melaleuca scientists announced almost five years ago. Melaleuca’s response to the editorial: It’s about time the rest of the nutrition world learned what we’ve been saying for years!
The results of the editorial published in the Annals of Internal Medicine were based on three research studies looking at the effects of multivitamins on preventing heart attacks and cancer, as well as improving cognitive function in men older than 65. “Most supplements do not prevent chronic disease or death, their use is not justified and they should be avoided,” the editorial stated.
That is pretty strong language, but Melaleuca is not surprised by the conclusions noted in the Annals of Internal Medicine. The problem is found in the type of minerals used in cheap grocery store supplements. Once you understand the potential damage that can be done by the cheap forms of minerals used by almost all of our competitors, it should be no surprise that the leading brands of supplements provide virtually no benefit to the user. And if you have been following Melaleuca’s research, the fact that those supplements may actually harm you should also be no surprise. In the first place, inorganic forms of minerals like sulfates, gluconates and fumarates used by almost all of our competitors are difficult—if not impossible—for the human body to absorb. And in the second place, these inorganic minerals actually destroy the antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin E, that are in the same supplement tablet. Common sense would suggest that 1) since the minerals are not able to be absorbed, they can’t do you any good; and 2) if they destroy vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin E, those vitamins can’t do you any good either. The logical conclusion is that such a vitamin supplement is indeed worthless!

Researchers have demonstrated that certain inorganic forms of minerals (like iron and copper) act as free radical triggers when they enter the small intestine—setting off a cascade of free radical activity throughout the body. When left unchecked, free radicals can disrupt bodily systems and can lead to serious health concerns. Furthermore, antioxidant vitamins (A, C and E), which are essential to keeping free radicals in check, are virtually destroyed by the free radicals emitted by the minerals in those same supplement tablets.

Dr. Gladys Block, a professor of nutrition at the University of California, Berkeley who has spent her entire professional career studying the role of vitamin C on disease risk factors, points out that most Americans are undernourished. She says that “most Americans don’t have a healthy diet and therefore don’t get the vitamins and minerals they need.” She emphasized that vitamin mineral supplementation is essential to optimum health. The knowledge that our modern diet leaves us far short of our daily nutritional needs for vitamins and minerals, and the fact that most vitamin mineral supplements are ineffective at remedying this serious health problem leaves both the medical and nutritional communities in a frustrated quandary of what to do.

We propose Oligo® as the solution. Five years ago, Melaleuca introduced Oligo technology, a revolutionary system that binds minerals to amino acids and fructose molecules. We were granted a Patent on this technology in 2012, proving it does what we claim. We also announced the fact that our competitors’ forms of inorganic minerals destroy antioxidant vitamins, and that means people taking those types of vitamins were not getting the nutrients that they thought they were. It stands to reason that they would also be even more susceptible to degenerative diseases than those not taking a vitamin mineral supplement because it is probable that those taking no supplement at all were getting at least some vitamin C, A and E from natural food sources, which would not have been destroyed by inorganic minerals. So it’s interesting to note that the recent editorial makes exactly that same point. Studies have now shown that those taking brand-name vitamin and mineral supplements actually have an increased chance of cancer and other degenerative diseases. Again, it is the type of inorganic minerals these companies are using that is destroying the vitamins and causing them to be of no benefit.

(Note: The recent editorial did not point out why it was happening, it just pointed out that it is happening!) Many doctors and nutritionists were anxious to climb on the bandwagon and add their comments to the popular editorial. “Every time you take a store-bought vitamin, you are taking a chance with your health,” was the common theme to their comments.)

Melaleuca Oligo logo

OLIGO: Tackling the Problem From the Ground Up

As usual, when you mess with nature, you cause problems! Melaleuca’s competitors mine minerals from the soil and process them as gluconate, oxides and fumarates. These forms are almost impossible for the body to absorb since they crystallize in the small intestine, creating a cascade of free radicals in the process. That is the problem! Humans were not designed to eat minerals from the soil. We were intended to obtain our minerals from plants! Melaleuca’s Oligo mimics how fruits and vegetables process minerals. Plants absorb minerals from the soil and bind them to proteins and fibers, making them much easier for the human body to absorb. And there is no explosion of free radicals in the process, so our bodies can get the benefit of vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin E in the same tablet.

STUDY RESULTS: Solubility
In a study at the University of Manitoba, in Winnipeg, Canada, irrefutable scientific data confirmed that Oligo delivers an unparalleled level of actual absorption through the intestinal wall. In fact, the study showed that Oligo provides up to four times greater absorption than other mineral forms.

STUDY RESULTS: Antioxidant Protection
The free radical impact of Oligo has been measured and proven in a number of studies.
One study showed that Oligo protects antioxidant vitamins five times better than the mineral forms found in the leading non-Oligo supplements. This means the antioxidant vitamins in Oligo are available to work in your body. Another study clearly showed that Oligo supplements not only protect against dangerous free radical activity in the digestive tract, but extends that protection throughout the entire body—better than any non-Oligo supplement on the market.

The Goal of Supplementation:
Several studies support the assertion that Oligo is the market’s most bioavailable form of multivitamin and mineral supplement. And taking Oligo supplements twice a day will fill nutritional gaps in the diets of a population whose eating habits are deficient in many micronutrients that are critical to the proper function of bodily processes and systems. Melaleuca is the market leader in providing natural solutions to support a healthy diet and physical well-being. Melaleuca vigorously advocates that both healthy diet and exercise are essential in achieving improved physical health and well-being.

We are pleased to see the scientific and medical communities agreeing with the science and facts that Melaleuca has been reporting for years regarding vitamin and mineral supplements. We are confident that as the facts about our competitors’ products become more widely known, more and more customers will seek out the proven nutritional solutions only Melaleuca’s Oligo can provide.

What is an Endocrine Disruptor?

...and why should you care?

Endocrine Disruptors
One of the many reasons why the “green” in www.mymakegreengogreen.com

is so important, is the fact that chemicals in everyday products can seriously affect our health. Our rampant use of plastic bottles, toxic air “fresheners” and barely-regulated beauty products sets the stage for “endocrine disruptors,” chemicals that seriously mess with our hormones. We’re seeing more and more posts on this topic and expect for it to take center stage in 2014, as people like you learn abut the importance of removing this risk in their homes, by simply changing everyday products by switching stores to Melaleuca.  Switching Stores - Changes Everything!

Love Happy Customers!

Hey girl - Having a good day over here - Melaleuca rocks my world!

Using my products and getting creative with them. Keeping Tub & Tile in the kitchen - cleaned all the black spots off the stove parts the other day... Hubby is amazed, too! Sol-U-Mel makes it easy to keep and reuse good jars... Cleaned the carpeted entry stairs with Sol-U-Mel and a rubber scrub brush - looks better than when we pay to have them done.

My happiest moment in the morning is smelling the delicious smell of the Affinia facial scrub. To me it smells like a real watermelon... not that icky fake watermelon scent. Makes me smile. Love it! And my skin looks and feels great.

Hubby loves Renew - he is painter and in the winter his hands get really dry from washing them so much. He is using the lotion and the hand wash and it's great! I am using Renew on my feet every night and when I remember in the morning before I put my socks on. Pretty feet! Happy Happy Happy!

Love, Pat

PS Laundry products are amazing - combining products to get great results - have only used cold water since I started and it's remarkable!

18 Year Old Stove Like New with Tub & Tile!

I love to cook! Chef and managed the kitchen in our restaurant in the Lake of the Ozarks, back in the day. Although I am organized...I make a mess! Sooo... here is a pic of my 18 year old stove. After making pizza from scratch last nite, this morning I need to get about 6 months of baked on crud out of the oven... so, instead of using BIG TIME toxic oven cleaner, or running my self clean at a gizzillion degrees for 3 hours and using a ton of electricity...I simply sprayed diluted Tub & Tile from Melaleuca on all the grease and burnt crud, waited about 5 minutes and then used a green pad and a sponge to wipe it all out! TA DA...

Tub & Tile costs me $5.68 for the small green bottle concentrate, WHICH MAKES SIX Spray bottles of cleaner! The power of 20 lemons and T36 C5 Melaleuca Oil at its best! Imagine what it will do on your gross shower! And this is only one of over 375 safe, nontoxic products made by Americans, factory direct coop shopping! Call me @ 608.314.4004...would love to share the goodness.

HOW TO CARE FOR WOODEN CUTTING BOARDS

Written by Genesis Davies

Wooden cutting boards are a great addition to any kitchen. They are sturdy and beautiful, often lovely enough to be left out on display. However, we've all heard about the dangers of wood. When you cut food on the board, the knife creates grooves that can breed harmful bacteria and the wood itself can absorb juices from food, which will stain and cause more bacteria to grow. So, how can you prevent these problems and keep your wooden cutting board clean and safe?

Seal your board. You can wipe the cutting board down with mineral oil with a drop or two of T36C5 Melaleuca Oil every week or so, applying it with a soft cloth and leaving it to dry. This will help prevent moisture from foods from soaking into the wood and the C36C5 will kill the bacteria naturally. This should be done before cutting fish or chicken on the board, as well and don't let anything damp or wet sit for long on the cutting board.

Vary your cutting. If you always cut in the same spot on your wooding cutting board, you will wear it out faster. To prevent this, make sure you use different areas of the board to chop vegetables. You should also flip it from time to time to makes sure that it wears evenly on both sides.

Clean it thoroughly. Harsh chemicals aren't a good idea on wood, you can wash your block with a natural disinfecting spray, like Melaleuca Tough & Tender or Sol-U-Guard. It's a good idea to use a metal scraper to scrape the moisture from the surface after each cleaning, which will let it dry faster. Never, ever use steel wool to scrub the cutting board, a sturdy washcloth or scrub brush will do nicely.

Don't soak your board. If you feel the wood needs a more thorough disinfection, you can wipe on Sol-U-Mel and leave it for five minutes before rinsing thoroughly. However, don't soaking your board because the wood will swell up and crack and the joints will split. It's the fastest way to destroy your board.

Your wooden cutting board is a great kitchen tool, but you do need to treat it with care if you want it to last. Most cutting boards are good for years and years if you are careful with them. Make sure you never let your cutting board get too wet and keep it clean and you will be using it for a long time to come.

APPS TO GET YOUR KIDS INTO THE GARDEN

by Meg Sperring
With the arrival of summer, you want to get your kids outdoors, but all they do is play, talk, and listen on their electronic devices—indoors. Get them into the fresh air with apps that lead them into the garden.

There are a number of gardening apps and outdoor apps for children. The first thing to do is to channel their curiosity with game apps and story apps, and then download further apps that will help them to practically apply what they have learned.

Roo's Fabulous Edible Garden. A free game app that will spark your kids' interest in growing fruit and vegetables, with the side benefit of learning how yummy this produce is to eat. The game takes them through preparing the ground and planting their own virtual garden, harvesting their crop, and finally cooking their produce. During the growing season, they weed their plot, remove harmful insects and learn about the good ones, and water their plants. Suitable for Grades 1 to 3 and up, this gardening app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (iOS 3.0 or later), and was developed by UNC-TV.

Green RADventures of Nico. A fun story app that teaches kids about growing plants that you can eat. Your children will plant seeds, learn about growing processes of plants, and sing along with the Green Minstrel. Suitable for children ages 4 to 12, this app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (iOS 4.2 or later).

Star Walk, Star Chart, or Night Sky (compatible with iOS and Android) are other great apps that will get your kids into the garden. These outdoor apps allow kids to explore the night sky above them, and are easy to use. Your children will have access to fascinating information about the celestial bodies that they see, and the apps enable them to move back in time to view the sky of years ago. Apps like these make kids aware of the infinite potential of nature, and help them to understand how the rhythms of the natural world control the activities in it.

Plants and Plants Pro. This reasonably priced gardening app helps kids organize and schedule their gardening activities and to tag plants that need individual care. An icon alert lets them know when they need to water or fertilize their plants. The app gives information about various plants, and kids can add plants to the library whenever they want. Suitable for ages 8 to 99. The app was developed by Tuparev Technologies, and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (iOS 4.2 or later). Upgrades to the app are free.

Audubon Wildflowers, SMM Wildflowers, or Wildflowers of Central Texas all provide information about wildflowers. Choose an app that covers your area, and you can download them onto iOS and Android devices. Take the kids on a walk, identify the flowers that you see, and then source them from your local plant nursery. Indigenous plants thrive in gardens, and are easy for youngsters to grow because they're in their correct climate zone.

Gardening apps and outdoor apps are great for encouraging your children to get outside and enjoy themselves. Once they're in the garden, they can continue to use their apps and will realize that they've found a fun and interesting place to be. Why don't you join them?
